In 2020 Antonio Saraiva Rodrigues wrote, "I have a Liberty model
NÂș 4. I bought the machine from a man who said it was working
well, but it arrived with a broken arm (identified as 212 on your
Parts of 'Liberty' Press). I soldered the arm and when I set up
the machine it was shaking as it ran.
"It is located in Viseu, Portugal and the serial number is 10521."
He later added, "I haven't fixed the problem yet because I'll need some money to rectify the gear."
From the serial number on this press, the manufacturing date can be estimated as 1888 to 1890. It is the highest numbered press that lists only New York next to the number. (The next known Liberty, No. 11883, lists both New York and Berlin. It was probably manufactured between 1892 and 1894.)
This press has been set up for die cutting and its ink disk has been removed.
